A Day in the Life of a Real Texas Cowboy

Keith Barnett of Brenham, TX, let me follow him around from 6 a.m. until after 10 p.m. documenting his life as a real Texas cowboy. He trains quarter horses to be cutting horses. It's a lot of work & takes very special talent. Keith a World Champion & has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno but he also knows a lot more celebrities who love the sport of cutting horses.

Ouch!

Things aren't always as they seem! This was during an engagement session in my studio. I asked for a piggy-back ride pose, so he thought he'd get on HER back. It was pretty funny because it totally didn't work and all 3 of us were laughing! I like to take shots in between the posed ones & sometimes those are the best ones.

Flower Mound S.W.A.T.

I was asked to take some photos for the Flower Mound S.W.A.T. team during a recent drill. There were some older houses that were slated for demolition & the owner let them use it to practice. There was all kinds of noise, yelling, smoke, & broken glass but also some cool photo ops. I love this type of documentary work.

The McLawhon Family

Something really exciting about this family photo session is that I got to photograph the wedding of one of the couples. Now, when they need photos they think of me & that is so cool! Speaking of cool, it was FREEZING when we took these but since the parent's were from Florida & the sister's family lives in New Zealand we didn't have much choice. They were great troopers - even the baby & as you can see from the photos, it looks like it's 70 degrees! (side note: about 30 seconds after I posted these Megan called me about something unrelated - weird, huh?)

Reily Wedding

This designs are included in my latest sample album. It looks even better in person & has a really cool red metal cover with a black leather spine!

Matthews Siblings

Just before Christmas I had the Matthews siblings come to me to surprise their parents for Christmas. We had so much fun! It was really cool to capture the love & energy they had for each other. It reminded me of my own family.

Lake Wedding

Sometimes my relatives get married and reluctantly ask me to photograph their weddings, not that they don't want me to shoot it, rather, they'd like the 'family discount'. Who wouldn't? I love free stuff myself. The truth is, I can't afford to shoot free weddings on a regular basis but I am happy to do it because it's a way to share my gifts & talents with loved ones and isn't that what it's all about? I'd shoot everyone's wedding for free if I could - maybe I could get free food, electricity, housing, etc., too? Well, my husband's father was getting re-married in Fallon, NV, and not only were we guests I got to shoot the festivities. It was a low-key event, but sometimes those are the most fun. We had a blast! It was at a cute little church on an Indian Reservation near a Naval Base amidst mountains.
