Welcome to Texas!

They have a saying in Texas, "If you don't like the weather, wait 10 min. & it will change!" How true that is! Yesterday I photographed the Westerberg family. We were literally sweating as it was humid and 80 degrees. With in 2 hours the temp. dropped to the 50's. Over night my husband and I awoke to loud claps of thunder prompting us to think our house had nearly been hit, thankfully it wasn't. Today it is sleeting, icy, and snowing. Welcome to Texas - it'll probably be 80 again in a couple of days!

Emilee Grace

One thing that great about what I do is becoming a bridal couple's family photographer. Here are some shots of their beautiful daughter, Emilee, and one with mom Kimberlee.

Isabella and Joaquin

I just got to photograph Isabella and Joaquin, sister and brother. They are very special to me as I have been photographing them each since they were born in the hospital. There mom always tries to do something special and fun for pictures. I like to joke that their house is like the Margaret Lake Photography Gallery! For Christmas this year she decided to focus on their Mexican heritage with authenic clothing and lots of color and fun. Wrangling that donkey wasn't easy but he was pretty harmless - now the Longhorn, he kind of scared me, can you tell we're in Texas? Their dad took us all out to this field on a hunting cart at sunset, if those animals wanted to get ornary we weren't left with too many choices. It was like being on a mini-photo safari with the kids as the best subjects!

Halloween a little early!

I shot these gals at a recent wedding relying on the lights on stage and no flash. This was the result of one of them. My husband said the image creeped him out!

Clint and Angela

I was at a wedding Sat. Oct. 14 and borrowed my associates Nikon D200 digital camera. It's the same camera I'm thinking about buying so I thought I'd do some experimenting with it at the wedding I was a guest at. The groom's mom and my mom were very close friends for over 20 years until the groom's mom passed away due to cancer. It was very emotional and we were all really remembering Pattye. The neat thing is that she knew Angela, the bride, and loved her. This was a casual and fun wedding in Denton County, Texas.
I love the shot of the kids playing on the putting green with the shoes of one of the flower girls. Kids are great to shoot at weddings because they are so natural. Here they are playing tag and pretty much unaware of me - true documentary-style, I love the story-telling aspect of it!

Megan & Ryan

One thing I love about what I do is being able to create continous family heirlooms. I photographed Megan's bridals, Ryan & Megan's engagmenet, wedding, and now their new addition, their doggie Nigel! This train station is a fun place to play for all ages. They are SO cute, cute, cute!

The Britt Family

I took pictures of the Britt Family in Granbury, TX. The youngest said, "The camera loves me!" I looked at his parents thinking they taught him that and discovered he just made it up, I love kids! The whole family was a lot of fun and they had a beautiful property to shoot on.

Vinita's Bridals

I am so excited that Vinita finally got her dress so we could shoot her bridals at a local venue. She's obviously very beautiful so it was an easy shoot. The architecture was really fun to play with, too.

My brother, Ryan

Back in the Fall of 1994, I was a college student at the University of Texas at Austin studying photojournalism. I seemed to be most drawn by documentary work which is what I still love today through weddings and family reunions I shoot. My brother, Ryan, was 5 years-old and a great subject. I used to come home to the D/FW area to shoot him just being himself. He turned 17 this month. It takes me back to such a simple and happy time. Today he's not much of a talker nor happy-go-lucky like he was back then. He's more pensive now, although, a good kid, stays out of trouble and VERY smart. I gathered over 300 images from the project that was all done by hand, it's been a lot easier to edit using CD's and Photoshop! The little girl behind the tree was one of his classmates and the woman he's leaning against is our mother.
I love you, Ryan, I hope you can see that in my work then and now!

Wisconsin Trip

I was in Wisonsin from Sept. 15 thru the 19th. I took a lot of photos like I usually do and picked up a couple of clients like this beautiful Senior, Abbey. We shot most of her images on her late great grandparents farm near West Bend. I LOVE those old red barns and all the history of these farms. My own grandparents had something similar so it felt very comfortable to me, it even smelled the same. Abbey was a dream to work with and so was her mom, Beth.

Mike Modano photos

These are some photos I took of Dallas Stars Hockey player, Mike Modano. He was very nice and easy to work with. These are two of my personal favorites.
